Fortunately there is research going on (like stem cells) that may one day serve the cure this disease.

My grandmother had alzheimers for years. It’s a sad disease that eventually destroyed every last memory in her brain. The worse part is that they are never at peace. She would cry a lot for reasons that she didn’t even know and it would make us all sad seeing her like that. It must really suck crying and not knowing why you’re crying. Thinking about that makes me really sad 😦
Hopefully we can see some significant advances in cures sooner than later.

Long time reader, second time writer. I have a friend that works at HBO, and I was able to catch a sneak peek of the third part of this documentary. The beginning part is meandering, but i think that’s the good stuff before the very end which is more predictable and didactic. good message overall though. I did find the use of carnival imagery to be a bit overwrought- while it was believable that the characters would want to study the healing properties of laughter, it was a bit forced for my taste. I’m not sure how much of the footage is going to make the final program, but I’ll be looking forward to May 10th for the premiere! Looks like Mr. Woodcock will be playing on Cinemax at the same time, but I’ll have to Tivo it so I don’t miss the Alzheimer’s show.
Off the subject of the HBO special, I’ve been building a new collection of bird houses for the spring- I’m modeling them after post-presidential houses! I’ve got most of the good ones, but I’m still trying to get a high resolution photograph of Richard Nixon’s old abode, so if anyone has one please PM me! I’m not exactly sure how to do it, but it’d be a gas if I could get presidential look-alike birds to take up residence in their specific houses. I’ve always thought Nixon, for example, looked remarkably like a juvenile burrowing owl. My understanding is that they don’t ordinarily like to take residence inside a bird house, but if I could get one to try it I’ve got a feeling it’d really knock peoples socks off. “Reg, that bird-house looks familiar.” “Yeah, that’s because it’s modeled after Richard Nixon’s house.” “Really?” “Yeah, and look who’s inside!” (EXIT THE NIXON LOOKALIKE).
If I can pull this one off, HBO will probably think about doing a documentary about me!
Anyway, keep up the good work, it’s always good to read the good stuff.
